Harrison Gimbel only recently graduated from high school, but already this 19-year-old young gun managed to write poker history. After winning a satellite he got the amazing opportunity to enter the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Eventually he even won the event and became the world's youngest player with over $2 million in tournament winnings.
Online Poker Professionals
PokerStars is the home of many online and live poker professionals from all over the world. Aside from the sponsored PokerStars pros entering live events, the poker room recently set up a team of international online players to form Team PokerStars Online.
Online Satellite to Live Event
Harrison Gimbel was one of those players who was mainly active at the virtual poker tables, that was, until he won a satellite to the prestigious PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. With this win he was granted the $10,000 ticket to the main event, and also had the rest of the expenses covered by PokerStars.
Making the Final Table
With solid poker play and a little help from Lady Luck Harrison managed to get to the final table where the remaining $8 million in prize money was at stake. Harrison outlasted all of his opponents to get heads-up with online poker pro Tyler Reiman, which he ultimately eliminated with his pocket tens against Reiman's pocket eights.
$2.2 Million Record-Breaking Win
By winning this last hand Gimbel won the major live event and went home with a stunning cash prize of $2.2 million. With this record-amount Gimbel became the youngest player to win more than $2 million in a live poker tournament, surpassing Annette Obrestad with her former record-win of $1.5 million.
