Over the course of years a lot of different poker TV shows have been aired. We have seen everything from tournament reports and high stakes cash games, to reality TV shows and tours through the houses of high stakes poker players.
Becoming a Poker Star
This time we are happy to announce that there will be a brand new poker TV show in Australia, starring former world champion of poker Joe Hachem. The winner of this reality TV show will win a year-long professional contract at popular poker room PokerStars. The show is aptly baptized 'The Poker Star' and will first be broadcasted this Saturday on the TV-channel 'One'.
PokerStars Sponsorship Deal
The world's largest poker operator PokerStars is continuing to attract media attention from all over the world. Not long ago we mentioned that the poker room decided to sponsor the High Heels Poker Tour, a ladies-only series of events held at top locations throughout the world.
Team PokerStars
Over 18,000 poker players had applied to become part of the cast of the first season of The Poker Star. Eventually 11 players have remained, forming a diverse group containing amongst others a 60-year-old war veteran and 24-year-old 'retired' ballerina.
The winner of this great ordeal will get the chance to play with the best and travel the world with Team PokerStars Pro Australia. Next to this he or she will take home a juicy cash prize of $87,500. All poker fans that are not from Australia you can still follow the show at PokerTube.com.
