One young professional poker player that goes by the name Tom Dwan has made an exceptional challenge to all poker players in the world. He will put up $1,5 million to his opponent's $500,000 in a long-lasting heads-up battle.
Bluff Magazine
Tom Dwan, online better known as "Durrrr", was chatting with Lance Bradley from the popular Bluff Poker Magazine. In this conversation Durrrr complained about him not getting enough heads-up action on the highest online stakes at Full Tilt Poker.
One thing led to another and soon thereafter Durrrr made a proposition to Bradley about a challenge he would like to put up to the professional poker world. Before Durrrr even realized it Bradley, afraid to lose his scoop, decided to make the news known to the public.
Further Details
In a further in-depth interview with bluff magazine Tom "Durrrr" Dwan clarifies the details of the challenge: "Anyone can accept. Four tables, minimum of $200/$400 and I'll put up $1.5 million to their $500,000. We play 50,000 hands minimum and if they end up a dollar after rake they keep the side money or whatever. So basically, if you and I played and you won a dollar, you would get my $1.5 million and if I won a dollar I would win your $500,000."
Challenge Accepted
In the meantime his fellow poker colleagues Phil Ivey, David Benyamine and Patrick Antonius are said to have accepted the challenge. Funny thing is that these players all are part of the Full Tilt Pro Team, so the arena for this epic battle is already known.
Multi-Table Madness
Phil Ivey is among the first in line to start the challenge. He is used to playing a lot of heads up poker, be it Texas Hold'em or Pot Limit Omaha. However, normally this world-class player only plays two tables simultaneously instead of the proposed four tables for the challenge. Hence, industry experts believe that the established live poker pro will have a slight disadvantage.
Ivey comments: 'You know what, the funny thing is he probably does have an edge. There's just something tempting about that $1.5 million to that $500,000. I don't know how this is going to work. I'm pretty sure what's going to happen in this match is that, until I get used to it, he's going to be such a huge favorite that I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do."
