The 2007 WSOP Satellite Frenzy Is upon us

At first, Harrah’s said they wouldn’t allow any Internet qualifiers, and the prognosis for the number of entries in 2007 WSOP slumped from the record-setting 8,200 in 2006 WSOP.

But now they’re planning to accomodate as much as 10,000 players, and all online poker sites are running WSOP satellites just the way we’ve come to expect since Chris Moneymaker went from a small buy-in satellite straight up to the summit of poker glory in the 2003 WSOP.

At PKR, the coolest of all three-dimensional online poker sites, a number of paths lead to the 2007 WSOP. For the greediest bunch among us, five Main Event packages are up for grabs, each worth a serious $12,500.

But PKR looks further than that. Beside the almost main-stream Main Event, PKR run satellites to five WSOP 2007 side events:

• Shootout
• Heads-up
• Short-handed
• Pot-limit Omaha

If you make it to the 2007 WSOP, you might just as well make it all the way. PKR has some really fine bonuses in stock for qualifiers who go deep in the money.

Make it to the final table in your event and you receive a place in another $10,000 event. Win a bracelet and you have a 12 month sponsorship deal worth $100,000! That’s not bad for a small-time online poker grinder like you

The good news is, you don’t have to make any big investments. There’s a range of satellites ranging from freerolls to buy-ins at $3 or $5. Of course, you may also buy straight in to the main satellite for $250.

I’ll definitely go after some of those seats. Right now I’m trashing the $5 heads-up tables to qualify for the freeroll satellite to the WSOP 2007 heads-up event.
