Do like “Jesus” Ferguson – build a fortune from zero

When Jesus started out on his incredible journey of turning zero dollars into 10,000, he had very few followers. Did you believe in him? I sure didn’t.

The little mission that Chris “Jesus” Ferguson laid upon himself was absolutely mind-boggling: starting out with no money at all, playing only freerolls and slowly building his bankroll to $10,000. Not many players would have the necessary skills to pull that one off, fewer still the patience required to sit through all that grinding.

To a former WSOP champion like Jesus, with experience from the very highest games, you’d think that playing at the lowest micro stakes on the internet wouldn’t seem even remotely stimulating.

But nothing human is alien to Jesus.

The plan was to win a dollar or two in multi-table freerolls and re-invest them at the lowest stakes available on Full Tilt Poker.

From then on, very strict bankroll requirements were in effect: Jesus wouldn’t play cash games or sit-and-gos with buy-ins over 5% of his bankroll, and no multi-table tournaments more expensive than 2% of the bankroll – except for buy-ins at $1 or less.

It took quite a while for Jesus to lift off, and it wasn’t until nine months after the project’s immaculate conception that the bankroll finally stabilized – at $6.50!

From that point on, the remaining six months or so must have felt like a triumphal march. Until, finally, Jesus was back on the “decent” level of $10/20 no-limit Texas Holdem and hastily managed to conjure up the promised 10K.

Hats off to Jesus. It’s a truly miraculous achievement he’s done; you can take my gospel for it.
