Playing with the big boys

Spinner convinced me to write a few lines on my new hobby, playing online. He recommended me to start off with some online poker since he was afraid the other guys would make fun of me if I kept to my favorite casino game - roulette.

So here goes. I recently signed up for a poker account on Poker Stars playing a few texas holdem Sit&Gos. I’m talking $5-10 buy in. I was extremely proud when I won the first one this week, getting my flush on the river against my opponents KK, Spinner just shaked his head, should one not be happy when winning?

Being so proud over my winnings I thought I would check out what other tournaments Poker Stars had to offer, I then understood that I was playing in the Little League. The big flashy ad immediately gained my attention “World Championship of Online Poker - $10,000,000 guaranteed”. This sounded great I thought, and looked up my preferred playing day, Saturday.

First they call the tournament HORSE (sounds extremely ridiculous if you ask me) and then the buy in is no less then $5,200?! Now we’re talking playing with the big boys. And after what I have understood you can’t play regular no limit texas holdem but strangely named poker variations called limit texas Holdem, Omaha high-low, Razz (seven card stud low), Stud (seven card stud high) and Eight-or-better (seven card stud high-low), making the initials spell HORSE. I’m skeptic.

Perhaps Spinner can sponsor me in next year’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) “cheaper” no limit holdem event - buy in $530, if I play my cards right that is…
