A Night at the Rio

Me and Dad's Wife

Me and my Dad's Wife

I’ve never been that crazy about the Rio really.  I guess I don’t have any particular reason for not liking it.  The fact the Up in the Sky show was ‘on vacation’ the entire time my Dad and his relatives were staying there didn’t help matters any.  It is far away from where I live, in a sort of out of the way place and there doesn’t seem to be anything terribly entertaining for me there.  So, I’m just not that crazy about it.

My Dad’s wife hit the slots.  The video is of her playing Double Dollars slot machine.  It hit every so often but she wasn’t liking the machine all that much.  It is a penny slot.  When you watch it hit and the numbers just keep climbing, it is pretty fun.  Well, until you realize that it isn’t one thousand dollars, it is one thousand pennies.  Then you just sort of go, “Oh.”

I did get the waitress to take a really nice, blurry photo of us with my cell phone.  Why didn’t I just hand her my camera?  I have no idea.  I think I didn’t want to keep her waiting while I dug out my other memory card.  At any rate, she was really nice.  She was pretty too, but she wouldn’t let me take a photo of her for you.  Hey, guys, I tried.

I had left my poor father in the Karaoke bar.  And boy, were the people bad.  Some were really so bad that I had to leave.  We were both sitting there wincing.  Yeah, that painful.  The couple I got on video was the very best of the bunch and they really outshined all the rest of them.  And besides, I thought the guy was kind of cute.

I don’t get karaoke.  Apparently, you need to be really drunk to get up there and do it.  I get that part.  But why would anyone listen to it?  You have to be even more drunk to stand to hear it!

So I suppose after watching the video you can see why I’m just not that crazy about the Rio.  I should be though, given it is about the only casino I can’t get lost in.  I seem to get lost in all the rest of them.  But still, I don’t like it much.

So Pam, how do you feel about your dad marrying a lady younger than you?

I think that I played the same machine was I was there in January. Don’t remember anything spectacular about it. I did catch a string of beads though from one of the floats in the air….

Actually, MaryAnn, she’s a handful of years older than me. ;) I got over it a long time ago, haha.

Sorry, I thought my comment was being censored b/c I saw Chuck’s comment up and not mine, when I posted my comment before his. Thanks for answering. :) From reading your boxing post, you wrote that you used to listen to boxing matches on the radio w/ your granddad and played with some snake in a bucket in the 50s, so I figured if you remember the 50s, we must be about the same age, I’m 59. I didn’t think your stepmom looked to be in her mid 60s, so that’s why I assumed she was younger than you. She looks young for her age. I’m sorry for the mistake. My stepmom is 4 years my junior and we kind of grew up together like sisters. It was actually fun.

Oh, don’t feel bad! LOL I’m 51, and I probably shouldn’t say exactly how old Nancy is, but she’s in her 50s too. The comments here are approved by our editor usually. I think he just missed yours is all. I saw it there tonight and approved it.

When they married I was 15. At that age, I didn’t like much of anything that had to do with my parents. I guess that would be putting it mildly. I was a very wild teenager and really gave them a hard time. I’m glad you had a different experience with that. :)

I think my dad got me back this trip though. He moved the huge rocks in my yard. I just noticed it tonight. They are about three feet from the driveway now. LOL I don’t know how in the hell he did that… He kept talking about how he didn’t like them there. I guess I should feel lucky I don’t have toilet paper hanging from my olive trees.

Wow, you have a fantastic memory then, to remember the 50s in such detail. You were less than 2 years old. My earliest memories were at age 5, and even then not so detailed. Yeah, my pop remarried when I was a teen also, it was hard at first, but like I already said, it worked out fine. :)
