The Grace of The Living Garden

December 27, 2008

While wandering around the Palazzo on Christmas day with a friend a mine, we heard some music playing and went over to check it out.

Near the waterfall fountain we saw quite the crowd gathering.  After fighting our way in we saw “The Living Garden” show in progress.  I didn’t think we’d stay but the beauty and grace of it all really sucked us in.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t close enough at first to see very well, as the video shows.  I did get a little closer after a minute when a closer spot opened up.  Then I got a better spot on the side of the show half way through the video.

The lifelike statues, or in this case statue like lives, do a slow dance to the music as water is drunk up by their hands in the fountains.  Then water sprays from their finger tips and from the crown of one of the girls.

After the show ended my friend started to wonder how they even got into the fountain.  As a former actress, she was pretty sure they weren’t going to ruin their make-up by walking through the water.  We pondered that for a while and continued on our way.

When we came back by later the show was just starting so we saw how they got into the waterfall area.  The girls actually come down the escalator which is on the side of the fountain.  It is the most bizarre sight, these three statues riding down the escalator, moving slowly down the isle and then up a ramp the guard puts down for them to get them to their stage.

It is such a beautiful and relaxing show.  This is probably the best free show I’ve seen in Las Vegas.  I’m so glad that some of the casinos support the arts and offer just grace and beauty for us to enjoy.

Show times are daily at 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, 4:30pm and 6:00pm at the Palazzo Casino.  The show lasts about fifty to sixty minutes, with the first twenty minutes being the girls in the fountain and the rest is then a procession from the waterfall up the escalator, followed by another 30 minutes or so of the two Vines interacting in The Shoppes at The Palazzo.  I’m sorry I missed the vines part.  I’ll have to go back tomorrow and see the rest of the show.

“The Living Garden” started on December 2nd of this year and is scheduled to run until mid-February, 2009, but they might extend it.  I sure hope they do.  I want to see it again and again.
