Fire one up for me

December 23, 2008

After the lovely stroll through the Christmas cactus garden it was time to eat.  We zipped on over to Sammy's Woodfired Pizza. This isn't just any pizza joint.  They do things in there like put shrimp on pizza.  It is one of those gourmet pizza places.  In the 80s everyone was talking about this and expected it to be the next rage, but it didn't really catch on until now.  Personally, if someone put shrimp or abalone or something of that sort on my pizza I'd consider that a crime and handle that person accordingly.  If you want to mess up a perfectly good pizza with fat, juicy insects, be my guest.  Just keep them off mine, thank you very much.  It is pepperoni all the way for me. They have some incredibly delightful salads on the menu and a small assortment of other dishes.  I was surprised to see ... Read the full blog post...

Score! The Bellagio Buffet

December 8, 2008

This afternoon I met up with a few gamblers who are in town and did the Bellagio Buffet.

When I arrived around 10:40am for our 11am lunch the line was all the way out the door.  By the time the whole party arrived the line was shortened considerably.

Cozy seating areas

I have heard about this buffet and have been anxious to try it.  I am one of those people who liked things better under the mob rule and the way they handled things.  I buck at having to pay upwards of $30 for a buffet.  Not that it isn't worth it, it just isn't very Vegasy in my book.  The price for the Sunday Brunch buffet at the Bellagio is about $25, with champagne it is about $31.00.

So?  Was it worth it?  OHHHhhh, yeah.  The food was perfect, presentation great, the

Il Fornaio at the New York New York

November 24, 2008

I had the pleasure of dining with friends Saturday night at the Il Fornaio inside the New York New York Casino restaurant area.

They have dining inside the restaurant, but we were seated in the 'outside' patio area which overlooks the gaming area and slots.  It gives an outdoors feel but you are still in the middle of the action.

We were hungry but we didn't want to make the mistake of ordering a big meal and then wanting to cart around the left overs all night.  We had plans to go and do things.  Who wants to have to take the to go containers back to the room or carry them all night if your room does not have a refrigerator.

We settled on a great idea.  We'd order two appetizers and one entre then we'd share everything.  It worked out super.  We all

Lunch at Jason's Deli

October 18, 2008

For lunch today I popped into Jason’s Deli. I didn’t realize it, but this place is a franchise.  You’d never know it. It was great food, great service and a nice clean, environment.  I thought it was a mom and pop type of place. I had the Reuben.  Nobody ever puts enough sauerkraut on my Reuben and this time I forgot to ask for extra.  It was a damn good sandwich anyway!  You can’t tell from the photo but this sandwich was jammed full of meat.  I needed to take half of it home. Here is a link to their menu. Although today looked like they were doing some slow business, I suspect it gets really busy in there.  They have a very efficient ordering system where you go to the counter to order then they give you a stick with a number on it.  You take that to the register and pay then go ... Just Give me Some Damn Food, already!

My hot friend from Virginia came to town this week on business and we got together for dinner for one night.  She’s probably going to move here, so I thought we should go where the locals go, The Garden Court.  This is usually referred to as the Main Street Station Buffet. We originally tried to go to the Hofbrau Haus because she says she is going to go there every time she comes to Vegas and never seems to get there.  So I picked her up in the Bloggermobile at Hooters.  Yeah, the chick was staying at Hooters! She says she got an incredible deal of twenty-five dollars a night!  Okay, I’d stay at Hooters then too! I don’t even have to admit I do not know my way around this town very well.  I think my friends have made this point publicly a number of times.  Who doesn’t know I’m constantly ...
