A Preview of the new Cirque du Soleil Viva Elvis
December 18, 2009
The Aria Casino isn’t the only new opening this week! Cirque du Soleil has unveiled their new show “Viva Elvis” which will be performed in the theater inside Aria. Preview performances will start on December 18, 2009. A preview performance is done when they are doing their last minutes changes and perfecting the show. These can usually be seen at a ticket discount. As always with these openings and shows there was a lot of hurry up and wait for the press. We were herded onto a small carpet and told to stay there until they were ready inside the theater for us. I felt for the staff because their task was really quite comparable to herding parakeets. Everyone had a busy day going and although being excited to see this new Cirque show, we sort of wanted to just get on with ... Read the full blog post...
Win Tickets to Purple Reign Prince Tribute
November 14, 2009
Win two tickets to see the Prince Tribute “Purple Reign” by following me on Facebook or Twitter and sharing the link to this article. Winner will be picked on Monday night. The Prince Tribute show “Purple Reign” has made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman and has made the Best of Las Vegas 2009 list by the Review Journal and there is a reason why. They are good. Damn good. Purple Reign is performing now at Hooters Casino in Las Vegas. I’m not much of Prince fan myself and saw this show just because it was offered to me to review. I became an instant fan. I reviewed this show at that time and went back to see them again last night for a special early show. This particular show was a condensed version, but I was able to get my ... Read the full blog post...
Tony & Tina's Wedding
November 3, 2009
I have always been reluctant to go to shows where they say there is “audience participation”. I’m the type who likes to hang out in the back of crowds watching people, taking photos and writing the story in my head while I’m there. I never want to have the focus on me. The thought of that makes me recoil in fear. “Tony and Tina’s Wedding,“ playing at Planet Hollywood, is one of those shows that say ‘audience participation.” A tourist invited me to go to this show because all her other friends had plans that night so I decided to brave it. The participation part wasn’t bad at all, as it turns out! It was really fun. This show starts in the line to get your seat. There was a lady wandering around asking people in line if they’d seen the Priest. She asked ... Read the full blog post...
Mr. Las Vegas – George Wallace
October 17, 2009
Since 2004, George Wallace has ruled in comedy in Las Vegas. No, not the shot guy and former racist governor of Alabama, but George Wallace the funny guy! Sure, there are other great comics here in Sin City, but they just aren’t George Wallace. He’s special. He’s a natural. I feel like I’ve been a fan my entire life. George signed with the Flamingo Casino for a thirty-day contract back in 2004, and he has been there ever since putting laughter in the hearts of the locals and the tourists. I first saw him in person last year. The price of his ticket was more than I could afford at the time. George Wallace likes to give back to the community, though. He knows locals have a tough time coming up with show ticket money and he was also interested in people ... Read the full blog post...
The Dice Man is now in Las Vegas
October 15, 2009
When I got the invite from the Riviera Casino to go see Andrew Dice Clay's show, I had to think about it. I thought about it for probably three times before I actually said I would go. I suppose I don’t need to explain why. But, I did agree to go to review his show and I was afraid I was going to be repulsed. I never saw his act in the 1980s. I just saw bits and pieces of it on television. It was enough to put me off the guy for life. What girl wants to actually pay for some guy to talk about women being whores? I asked a girlfriend to go with me to this show last night in Las Vegas. We were fairly certain we were not going to be happy show guests. On the other hand, we ... Read the full blog post...
He broke our Beloved Charo
September 30, 2009
I enjoyed Charo’s show so much that I was really looking forward to seeing here show again. Charo is scheduled indefinitely at the Riviera Casino in Las Vegas. Click here to see my review. Charo is an accomplished musician, playing mostly classical and flamenco on that guitar of hers. Her show includes some awesome Flamenco dancers, as well. So, I prepared a spot in my busy schedule just for me to see Charo. This would be a rare opportunity for me to see a show just for me to see a show. I don’t have to start taking photos, video, or continually write a story in my head the entire time I’m sitting there. I can just sit back and enjoy because the show is only for my entertainment. Guess what happened? Charo sustained an injury! Charo was backstage at the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon over the ... Read the full blog post...
ALICE!
September 29, 2009
Much like I feel about Ozzy, I'm glad Alice is still alive. He probably shouldn't be, so we are all blessed. Not only is he alive, he’s still working like he always was. He’s coming back to Las Vegas. I wonder if he’ll give me some make-up tips? I’ve been feeling a little outdated lately. Alice Cooper, aka Vincent Furnier, will be playing The Orleans Showroom on October 23rd, 24th and 25th. That would be my favorite choice of venue for him. I love the showroom at The Orleans. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It seats 827 people, but you'd never know it. It seems so small when you're in there and the view and sound is great. I have seen Etta James, Craig Ferguson, Sammy Shore and others in there and they were ... Read the full blog post...
Barry Manilow is Back
September 28, 2009
Barry Manilow is back on stage in Las Vegas. He was gone for a while. As a matter of fact, when my Aunt came to town she had tickets. The show was canceled and she was none to happy about it. She was really looking forward to seeing his Las Vegas show. I don’t know what the problem was with Barry Manilow for those weeks. He has a reputation for not missing shows. Whatever it was, it had him out for quite some time. Does it matter why? He’s back, that’s all that matters and fans are filling the Las Vegas Hilton up once again to see him. I’m not a real big fan. I never was. Sure, I like his songs and can sing along with most of the big hits. Oh, admit it, you can too! ... Read the full blog post...
Lost in the summer of '71 with Three Dog Night
September 10, 2009
All summer Downtown has been celebrating the Summer of ‘69, and I’ve made it to as much of the celebration as I could. I didn’t make it for Canned Heat last weekend, but I did make it a point to see Three Dog Night, the last concert of the series. As always seems to happen this past summer, we I go to fool around Downtown Las Vegas in the heat, the humidity bumps up to about 68%. Mother Nature just loves to mess with me. So I stood in the packed crowd with beads of sweat trickling down my back and dripping from my face, for you. You don’t believe I was just there to get video for you, do you? Sure I was! These concerts of old bands I used to listen to have put me in some sort of time warp all summer long. ... Read the full blog post...
Purple Reign – Very hot, even more sensual
September 7, 2009
Purple Reign is a Prince Tribute act which has been around for a while in Las Vegas. I have heard of them and I’ve heard very good things about them. They are now doing their show from Hooters Casino. My usual show going buddy couldn’t get back to Vegas for this one, so @ladietz who follows me on Twitter joined me. She said this was one of her most favorite bands. And the adventure began. Who better to see a show with than one of their most rabid fans? Rumor has it that Prince never takes the stage until about 1am. This, and the price of his ticket, are the reasons I have not seen Prince in person. I’m not that big of a fan, but I enjoy a lot of his music. I wanted to see him when he had an ... Read the full blog post...
