"Samson" the T-Rex to be Displayed

December 10, 2009

I have an update on the dinosaur “Samson” that was up for auction at the Venetian recently. “Samson” has found a temporary home while he is on loan to a museum in Portland, Oregon! A magnificent 39-foot-long fossil of one of the most fearsome carnivores ever to walk the face of the Earth will soon be on display at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). The 66-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton known as Samson*, one of the three most complete Tyrannosaurus rex specimens in existence, will make its world-wide museum debut in OMSI’s Earth Science Hall on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. Close to 60% of Samson’s* original bones, including its nearly complete skull, will be on exhibit. Samson* is close in weight and length to the T. rex known as Sue, long considered the largest, most complete T. rex yet discovered. “We are honored that OMSI has been chosen to be ... Vegas's First Million Dollar Jackpot

September 24, 2009

Vegas Legend, Bob Stupak has been known as one of Vegas’s most flamboyant gamblers. He grew up in Pittsburgh and then went out into the big, wide world to make a name for himself. And that is exactly what he did. In 1971, Stupak bought 1.5 acres of land, where the Stratosphere now stands. He started a casino named “Bob Stupak's World Famous Historic Gambling Museum” which didn’t last long, a couple of months later a fire, quite suspiciously, burned it down. It didn’t take long for big success to hit. By 1979, he had opened “Vegas World” and it went on to gross over 100 million per year. One of the more fun things he’s known for is for betting a million dollars on the SuperBowl XXIII in 1988 at Little Caesar‘s Sportsbook. He took the Bengals +7, and the win paid him $2,050,000. ... Play Guess the Casino!

September 2, 2009

Okay, let’s play guess the casino! I have quite a few photos of casinos in Las Vegas and some in Henderson, just outside the city. I know how much you guys love to look at casino photos when you’re away from this fun place. So, let’s guess the casino. Look at the pictures and leave you guesses in the comments area. Really, the photos are pretty easy, as some of them actually have their names on them, haha. This isn’t an IQ test, just a little fun. There is one toughie in there, though. Vegas has been bustling with people lately. Whenever I go into a casino there has always been a nice crowd, even on the weekdays. People are coming in on all the deals that have been offered. This is good for the tourists. You guys get to save lots ... Read the full blog post...

HR 2267 the Internet Gaming Bill

May 6, 2009

Well, Mr. Frank went to Washington today.  Okay, so I guess he’s there all the time anyway, as he is the Financial Services Committee Chairman and the elected Congressman from Massachusetts.  He introduced legislation today that will end the ban on Internet gambling in the USA. He introduced two bills today, not just one.  The first one is to delay the Bush backed ban on Internet gambling, 2006-passed UIGEA, which is set to go into effect December 1, 2009.  It is H.R. 2266, the Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act. The second is H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act of 2009.  This bill will make it legal to gamble online, and run an online gaming business in the USA, providing that the state or tribe doesn’t already have a ban in place for that type of business. In browsing HR 2267, I can’t help but notice they are ... Read the full blog post...

Buford's adventure in gambling

May 5, 2009

So Buford Billy Bob James (named after his uncle-brother) knows he’s hot with the cards or ponies or slots or pitching pennies and he decides to start moonlighting as a professional gambler.  He knows he’s good and he is going to prove it, then come back and tell that jerk he works for to F-off. Buford’s got a plan, man.  He tells his boss down at the Moo Cow Ice Cream Stand that he’s going into the hospital for a hemorrhoidectomy and he really need to be off his feet for a few days.  The next flight to fabulous Las Vegas is at midnight.  He gets all packed and gets on that plane.   A night flight is good because he wants to nap on the plane with those slot machines dancing in his head like the sugarplum fairies do just before Christmas. Refreshed from his nap and successfully landed in the hot ... Read the full blog post...
