Score! The Bellagio Buffet
December 8, 2008
This afternoon I met up with a few gamblers who are in town and did the Bellagio Buffet.
When I arrived around 10:40am for our 11am lunch the line was all the way out the door. By the time the whole party arrived the line was shortened considerably.
I have heard about this buffet and have been anxious to try it. I am one of those people who liked things better under the mob rule and the way they handled things. I buck at having to pay upwards of $30 for a buffet. Not that it isn’t worth it, it just isn’t very Vegasy in my book. The price for the Sunday Brunch buffet at the Bellagio is about $25, with champagne it is about $31.00.
So? Was it worth it? OHHHhhh, yeah. The food was perfect, presentation great, the staff attentive and happy, the place was nicely decorated and clean. Everything I had was absolutely delicious! So much for the diet. I don’t think I will be eating again any time soon. I’m actually sitting here drinking some prune juice to get things moving…
I don’t know what my problem is, but I’m pretty much about beef and deserts. I always want to see some sort of prime rib and a vast array of perfect little, scrumptious deserts. I got both! And I got a whole lot of other stuff.
There just wasn’t enough stomach in me to try everything I wanted to sample. I was going small but I could only get so much into me. My first plate consisted of some sort of herb, pepper roated chicken with asparagus, roasted potato, a roll, a bit of prime rib with horseradish sauce, and some glops of some other interesting stuff.
Once we sat around for a while I went back for more treats. Now I discovered the french toast. It wasn’t just any french toast, it was stuffed with hazelnuts and bananas. I drowned that in warm maple syrup and topped it off with a little pancake. Awesome.
Oh, but really, desert was next. The group had to take a good half an hour to recover from our first and second plates with some coffee to wake ourselves back up. It was hitting me hard because when I met a bunch of people Friday night I was without my usual body guard so I was just running around hugging and kissing everyone. I caught a cold. Note to self: No more kissing boys, they have germs. I was having a hard time staying lively during this buffet. The food was slowing me to a stall and the cold was kicking in big time. On the other hand, I was in heaven.
Some of the highlights of this buffet include lox, a couple different types of fish, shrimp, roasted lamb, prime rib, various breakfast items, salads, fruits, breads, deserts and even some chicken soup. There were other things too like some sort of fancy pizza, I think I saw some Chinese dishes and well, it just goes on and on. All of it was fabulously prepared.
Eventually we recovered a bit with the coffee and champagne and dove in to the desert station. They were all so beautiful and the portions were nice and small so you could have a few and not feel guilty. I have a very rich, chocolate cake and a vanilla cream puff. I couldn’t even finish them because I was on overload. They were every bit the delicate, little delectables I was looking for though.
I would do this buffet again and again. I loved it. Next time I go, I won’t go when sick with a cold. This was probably the best buffet I’ve enjoyed yet.
We were in there for about two hours and the time flew by. When we left the line was very far outside the door. It seems the best time to hit this place is 11am.
