Summer Gardens Display at the Bellagio

Summer Gardens Display at the Bellagio

The Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens summer display has been done for a while now. It started on May 18th and runs through September 12th. I finally got there yesterday to take a look around and take some photos for you.

As always, the flowers are simply amazing. What I saw this year that I don’t remember from years past is that they had parrots in the butterfly house. You expect to see butterflies and go, “Thems some big ol’ butterflies!” On one side they had many lorikeets in so many colors. On the other side were parakeets. People often call budgies parakeets. These weren’t budgies, they looked more like cockatiels in some amazing colors. I have never seen cockatiels in those kinds of colors so I am not 100% sure that’s what they were. The lorikeets, though, were so gorgeous.

It was nap time at my house for my parrot when I left the house and apparently, it was nap time in the butterfly cage also. Most of the birds were taking a nap, some in the oddest of places. They were just too cute.

The centerpiece of the display is the 42-foot tall Ferris wheel. Some of the seats were filled with sunflowers. And flowers were everywhere, as always. Beautiful splashes of color everywhere. I don’t know how they do it. I wish the designer would come over to my living room and fix what I have going on in there!

They had the usual wired based animals all filled in with flowers to give them their shape. There were balloons, treehouses and various other things scattered around. Some of the features are so subtle that I didn’t even see them until I was looking through my photos!

Overall, it looks to me that the Bellagio is still cutting back. There just isn’t as much going on with the displays this year as there have been in years passed. Don’t get me wrong, it is still so peaceful and absolutely beautiful in there! It just isn’t quite as complex and before. I still do love going in there from time to time. It is the perfect chill-out spot on the strip.

The Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens display is open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and it is free. The summer display will be up through September 12th.
