Photos of the Las Vegas Strip
November 9, 2009
Friday’s adventures on the Las Vegas Strip started with a traffic jam, of course! I sat in traffic for about twenty minutes to go just a couple of blocks on Tropicana headed towards the Strip. So, I made like a tourist and took photos while I was parked there.
I didn’t realize it at the time, but when I went through the photos I saw this one. It looks like a new version of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover. Maybe it’s just me, but that’s what I see in it.
Here is what I could get of the Tropicana while sitting in traffic. That casino is not easy to take a photo of from the road! So, this is the best I could do for you guys who have fond Tropicana memories.
Okay, I guess there is a ship outside of the New York New York Casino. Either I don’t remember this ship or I have never seen it before. It is out there in full view, right on the Strip blowing water all over. How could I miss that?! I am taking a little heat from one friend about that one. Hey, if he were driving me around like he should be, then I wouldn’t be missing this stuff!
Here is the lion statue in front of the MGM Grand. If you look closely you can see there is a fountain going. We love to splash water around in the desert. I wanted to get a shot of the water fountains up, but all I could get was the down position because my traffic light turned green and it was time to go.
I really bummed someone out on Twitter with this photo of the Monte Carlo Casino. I guess she works there and was none too happy to see her job come up on her Twitter account on her day off. Oh well, not everyone in Las Vegas is a tourist! I was rather proud of myself for getting such a good shot of it.
I managed to notice the ever disappearing Polo Towers. Maybe it is time for the Polo Towers to change their name to the Dwarfed Towers? This is probably the most pitied building on the strip. It had its day and now it is hidden and almost buried by the new growth around it.
You gotta love the M&M store! I take a picture whenever I can. In this case I almost could, but here is the photo anyway. Mm, chocolate!
I am still learning how to use my new camera. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my camera? I played with the settings on it to get some good photos of the inside of the New York New York Casino. It is getting better, but I still have an awful lot to learn.
The pool at the New York New York Casino is still being used. There were a lot of people out there lounging next to the water and enjoying their Vegas vacations.
The zoom on my nifty new toy works pretty good too! Here is a photo of the hot pools at the New York New York Casino. There weren’t many guys in there. So I kept on going.
After my business was taken care of inside the casino, I headed back home to rest up for my Downtown adventure. No, I didn’t win anything. Poo! This is what it looks like on the east side of town on my way home from the Strip. You guys get glitz and glamour on the Vegas Strip, and we get, well, bla. The photo was taken on Maryland headed North to my hood.
Until next time…
