A Taste of Soul, part 2

I had more video so I thought I’d put together another little movie for you of Taste and Sounds of Soul.

Of course, Carl Ferris was playing his sax.  As I’ve mentioned before, I really don’t care for jazz at all, but I love to listen to Carl play his sax.  Apparently, so does a shaved head woman you’ll see in the crowd.  I really would like to not know what is going on in her mind when she watched him play.  But he gave me his own personal little show and just about stuck his sax in my face.

One of the most interesting things about Carl is the women who come to hear him play.  They tend to be older than me and way more obsessed about the lead guy in the band than me.  They are a hoot to watch.  The shaved head girl is the exception.  She’s much younger than the usual Carl Ferris fan.  And well, much more ready for him to cheat on his wife. HA!

The Chippendale boys were rather rowdy on this particular night.  They were having a melt down over a guy with camera taking photos.  I swear, it wasn’t me they were getting ready to go to blows over.  I was just passing by.  Okay, I was video-ing, but they just got in my way. They really were mad at somebody else.  REALLY!

My friend, Gayle’s, Deep Fried Oreo Initiation is in this video.  We braved the walk to the back of Mermaids, our eyes burning the whole way, to stand in line to get her first deep fried Oreo.  Actually, we made this walk twice because the first time we were turned away because they were out of Oreos.  Again.  She refuses to be on camera, so you just get to hear her order and the guy giving them to her.

It is always one of my big joys to see the man I call “Dancing Guy”.  He was there!  He’s so fun to watch dance. He got particularly naughty with this unsuspecting girl who started dancing with him on this night.  They looked pretty cool, well, until she wandered off in the middle of the song.  I’m sure she had places to go and things to do.

Ah, another fab night on Fremont Street.  I just hope they upgrade the bands on the next event.  And the next time they have a ’soul’ night, maybe have some Motown?  On the other hand, the price was right (free), so what am I bitching about?

That was cool what Ferris did—-the man can flat out play.

Interesting how a great sax player appeals to damn near everyone, regardless of the musical genre they normally prefer.

I love listening to him play. And I really, REALLY can’t stand jazz. He’s very entertaining and a really good sax player, I agree!
