News of the Irrelevant

In a continuing trend in Las Vegas, yet another drag show will be closing.  I do believe this is the only one left on the strip.  There is “Queens of Las Vegas” remaining, according to the Free Zone’s website, but they are a gay bar.  If you want see boys dressed up like famous women, this is going to be your only choice after March 28th.

Les Folies Bergere, the classic Parisian revue at the Tropicana, will host their last wholly-ticketed night of performances on March 27, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Both shows will be uncovered.

The final performance on March 28, 2009 will be primarily for invited guests, but one hundred tickets will be available for the general public to purchase. Tickets for all remaining performances are on sale now as supplies last.

Tickets for the Folies Bergere begin as low as $35 plus tax and surcharge and are available at the Tropicana Box Office or by calling 702-739-2411. For additional information visit tropicanalv.com.

La Cage at Riviera is now gone.  That one went very suddenly, without any notice. So, you can’t see that one anymore.

Lucky Cheng’s at the Harmon Theater is now gone.  You can’t see that one anymore either.

Las Vegas is soon to be dragless, unless you count the gay bars.  I am supposing the drag queens will pop up there more often.

In just breaking unrelated news, today the County Commissioners overturned the law that forbid cross gender massages.  Now, when I first read that news report, I pictured some guy in drag giving legitimate massage therapy.  But after reading it about ten times, I got it.  For the past ten years or so, it was illegal for a guy to give a girl a massage in Clark County and vise versa.  Yeah, who knew? LOL  Well, I suppose a whole lot of licensed massage therapists knew, that’s who, and they fought back and won.  How idiotic that there would be a law like that. Is this Utah?  And Utah doesn’t even have a law like that!  I’m glad they overturned that so I didn’t have to go all postal on a County commissioner or something.

The jury for the Chester Stiles trial is deliberating still. Would it be wrong of me to say Chester the Molester one more time?  Probably, so I won’t.  If you do not know who Chester Stiles is, I would suggest googling it if you have a strong stomach.

So, I guess that’s all the good, bad and indifferent news coming out of Vegas today.

Delivering the news of the irrelevant, but only when I’m in the mood.

Update: A jury convicted Chester A. Stiles on all counts in relation to a videotaped sex assault on a 2-year-old and the molestation of a 6-year-old.
