Out with OJ, in with Laughs at Palace Station
January 13, 2009
Well, you know how I loooove the comics.
Palace Station used to be the home of the LA Comedy Club, but now that club is located at Trader Vic’s in the Planet Hollywood shopping mall. It is a little harder to get in to but the view is super nice from the top of Trader Vic’s. I go there now and then still, but I miss the easy in and out of the Palace Station’s parking lot.
Bonkerz Comedy Club is opening in Palace Station on January 15th. This club was founded by Joe Sanfellipo in 1984, and now has about twenty locations across the USA. Several comedians got their start at Bonkerz, including our local Carrot Top and also Larry the Cable Guy. Legendary comics like Sam Kinison have been on their stage. Sanfellipo prides himself on bringing in first-rate comedians with the occasional star acts.
“Bonkerz has been entertaining guest inside casinos for ten years now, but this is our first time coming to Vegas,” said Sanfellipo. “I’m excited to bring my comedy club to the entertainment mecca. Guest can expect superior comedy at a great price.”
With any luck, in time, people will forget all about O.J. Simpson’s last romp through the Palace Station and remember some good chuckles they had there instead.
Bonkerz Comedy Club will present five shows weekly, Thursday through Saturday. Showtimes start at 8pm and tickets are $29.95. If you stay at the Palace Station then you receive a ten dollar discount, or if you show a Nevada ID you also receive the discount. Locals discounts are always a good thing!
The opening acts January 15-17, and January 22-24, are Dean Napolitan and Kathleen Dunbar. January 29th-31st is Big Tony Esposito, who has been on Comedy Central.
Palace Station is located off the strip:
2411 W. Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas.
