With online casino regulation still a taboo subject in the United States, all online casinos must get their license from another jurisdiction. Most have chosen the island nations of Antigua and Barbuda or other places that love giving out licenses because of the quick and easy revenue it brings.

But some have chosen the Isle of Mann to do so, and those that did will now have to abide by a new set of rules. The tiny British principality recently announced chances to the Online Gaming Regulation Act 2001 (OGRA).

These changes will affect three different sections of the industry- software, disaster recovery and advertising and marketing. These changes are to make sure that Isle of Mann keep a competitive advantage with other jurisdictions amongst other reasons, according to Bill Mummery of the Isle of Mann government.

The software changes mean that now licensees will find it easier and less costly to be able to go through the software approval process. For disaster recovery, the Isle of Mann will offer up their considerable technology to allow not only licensees but other non-licensees to recovery should they have a crash or other big computer or technical disaster affect their business. And finally, certain special activities for clients in advertising can be managed and controlled from the Island.
