There was one year in which GSN, the network that hosts the world-famous televised poker cash game High Stakes Poker, wasn't sure as to continue broadcasting the show or not. This year there is no doubt that GSN will broadcast exciting footage of the poker pros battling it out in the Golden Nugget, with the first episode airing this Sunday.
Last Season of HSP
Every new year somewhere around the end of February GSN broadcasts the first episode of a brand new season of High Stakes Poker. In 2009 the first episode was scheduled to broadcast on March 1, and the most striking newcomers were online hotshots Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.
Kara Scott - New Host
This year GSN decided to air the first episode on Valentine's Day at 20:00 (ET). The past five seasons the familiar faces of A.J. Benza and Gabe Kaplan were there to deliver poker commentary and some light chatter. This year however, GSN announced A.J. is being replaced by EPT host Kara Scott, a whole improvement for those who like the ladies.
All episodes are pre-recorded from the Golden Nugget Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas and the minimum buy-in is $200,000. We are bound to see some fireworks this year as all familiar names are present, together with some interesting newcomers like Andreas Hoivold and the cocky Dutch online poker professional Lex Veldhuis.
