Good news for French poker fanatics. 888 Holdings, one of the leading online gaming operators, is teaming up with software giant Microgaming to launch a poker network especially for the French market.
License Approval
It's not clear yet when the new network will be launched, as all the necessary licenses still need to be approved, but Microgaming has said that they hope to start rolling very soon.
"We are delighted to be working with 888 to deliver a poker solution to the French market", said Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever. "We look forward to combining our wealth of experience and knowledge to bring the highest global standards to the local market."
Market Leader
The new gaming network will allow players to benefit from a shared pool of player liquidity and the two companies are hoping to make it a market leader with regard to online poker.
"This deal marks a turning point in the industry with big networks collaborating in newly regulated markets to create a shared pool of liquidity benefiting customers and assisting in rapidly generating large poker networks in each market", said 888 CEO Gigi Levy.
"Once we have obtained the required licence and the French market is operational, this represents a strategic opportunity for us. It provides us with the ideal platform to secure a meaningful market share in France, which is set to become one of the key poker markets in Europe."
888 Holdings
888 Holdings, the company behind 888.com Casino, is no stranger to big, market related partnerships like this one. It was just last year that they teamed up with Harrah's Entertainment to enter the UK online gambling market.
Now French poker players can put their faith in these two gaming giants and hope that they combine their experience and knowledge (both technological and market-wise) to create a booming platform.
