Odds On Software Review

Odds On Software Review

Friday, Feb 27, 2009 | By CasinoGuide

In the late 1990s, a select group of companies saw the potential of the Internet for gaming opportunities and decided to jump into this market. Odds On Gaming was one of these farsighted organizations. They began operating in early 1998, developing software that would allow real money gaming over the Internet.

Originally, they used a downloadable JAVA platform for their software, which they then followed up with a C++ version. In 2003, Odds On made an agreement with EH New Ventures Gaming, which is now responsible for franchising their software. Odds On casinos are offered in downloadable and Flash format.

Skin and Layout

Odds On Casinos feature a fairly standard layout. Pleasant to look at and generally easy to navigate, but nothing that will make them stand out from other online casinos.

Still, the important thing about an online casino is the games. A large menu in the lobby screen makes it easy to find the category and then the specific game you want.

The downloadable version of the online casino has a minimum of downloaded content. Once you choose a game, you will have the option to download that game, which means less space taken up on your computer if you only play one or two games. When you roll over a game, a small window pops up to give you an idea what the game looks like before you start playing.

Graphics and Sound

The sound of Odds On casinos is a mix between arcade noises and realistic casino sounds. There is some ambient background chatter and clinking of chips, but there are also some pinball type beeps and buzzes.

At first glance, the graphics appear good, with a three dimensional layout for table games. However, gameplay itself is extremely slow, and players may feel like they are moving in molasses. Also, the chips and cards appear a bit cartoonish.

Finally, at the end of a hand, chips are not cleared away or added depending on whether you won or lost. Your previous bet simply remains on the table, leaving you to wonder whether the hand has actually ended.

Game Variety

As with most casinos, Odds On software provides a wide variety of table games, slot games and video poker games. Table games include blackjack, with European rules, perfect pairs, Vegas strip blackjack and a progressive option.

There's also American or European roulette, baccarat, craps, red dog and many other games at a live casino. Slots include dozens of multi-reel options, as well as progressives.
