Of all the industries that are active in the US hardly any will be unaffected by the financial malaise. Despite these conditions, the massive and unregulated industry of online gambling continues to thrive.
$52 Billion in Taxes
Instead of taking advantage of the growth of this massive entertainment industry the latter years the US government has fought a lost battle. Not only would regulating online gambling lead to a safer consumer environment, recent reports of PWC have shown that online gambling could produce $52 billion in additional taxes.
Luckily for online gamblers, and everybody that believes in fair and free trade, things are looking to change for the better. Barney Frank has recently started his contest to nullify the disastrous UIEGA law that was passed through by the Bush Administration.
European Commission
From other parts in the world the US online gambling policy is also followed closely. The European Commission is looking into the matter that European companies like Party Gaming and 888.com are blocked from entering the lucrative US market. The formal report will be rounded up next month, after which the commission will determine whether or not further measures via the World Trade Organization.
