Playtech has created a joint venture with Scientific Games Corporation called 'Sciplay'. The partnership will see the two companies jointly develop Internet and land-based gaming products and services to regulated gaming operators around the world, including those located within the U.S.
The Latest Technology
Scientific Games brings nearly 40 years of experience to the table with their gaming solutions. Playtech on the other hand, is one of the industry leaders with regard to online gaming software. These two giants will now combine to deliver the latest online technology to government-regulated lottery operators, including U.S state lotteries.
Full Suite
Customers can expect a full suite of internet games including casino, poker, bingo, instant games, sports and skill games on one single platform. The joint venture will also give Sciplay - which will be under direction of Managing Director Richard Weil - globally exclusive rights to Playtech's technologies for these customers.
"This is a strategically significant alliance for Playtech which enables us to focus on what we do best: developing cutting edge technology platforms and exciting games content," said Playtech CEO Mor Weizer. "This partnership is another example of our focus on regulated markets, where governments will play major roles as both regulators and operators."
Groundbreaking
Playtech was also in the news because of the new gaming regulations in Estonia. We wrote a few weeks ago about Estonia legalizing online gambling and now the Estonian Tax and Customs Board has issued Olympic Casino Eesti AS the first online gambling licence in Estonia.
The Olympic Casino software is developed by Playtech and while it's currently being tested, the expectation is that it will go live within the next couple of weeks.
