In Sic Bo, players bet on the outcome of three dice being rolled. Sic Bo is derived from an ancient Chinese gambling game. The action takes place on a busy table with tons of betting options.
Rules
When placing bets, players have to decide how much they want to wager first. Once the amount is decided, players must place their bets on the appropriate spot on the Sic Bo table. Players can bet on as many dice combinations as they wish in a game. The dealer then spins a cage that holds three dice. The total value of the dice roll determines whether or not a bet is won or lost.
Bets
Three of a Kind and Three of Any Kind
Three of a Kind (the same number appearing on all three die) pays 150 to 1. As you can tell by the payoff, these types of rolls don't happen too often. Three of any kind is a wager that pays 24 to 1. If any number appears on the dice three times, you win.
Two of a Kind and One of a Kind
A two of a kind bet will pay 8 to 1. A one of a kind bet is a wager on a single dice value. If the value you select appears on three dice, you are paid even money on a one of a kind wager. If the value shows up on two dice, you are paid 2 to 1. If the number you chose shows up on all three dice, then your bet is paid of 3 to 1.
Duo
A duo is a wager that's placed on the outcome of two dice. Players can bet on different two dice combinations. If the bet is won, the player's bet is paid off 5 to 1.
Small and Big
Players can also make an even money bet on "small." If the values of the three dice adds up to 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, then the player wins the small bet. There's also a betting space on the table for "big." If the values of the three dice add up to 11 ,12 ,13 ,14, 15, 16 or 17, then the big wager is won and paid off at even money.
Sum
Players can also bet on the sum of the dice by placing wagers on a specific number from 4 to 17.
Here's the payoff table for sum bets:
If the sum is 4, winning wagers are paid 50 to 1
If the sum is 5, winning wagers are paid 30 to 1
If the sum is 6, winning wagers are paid 18 to 1
If the sum is 7, winning wagers are paid 12 to 1
If the sum is 8, winning wagers are paid 8 to 1
If the sum is 9, winning wagers are paid 6 to 1
If the sum is 10, winning wagers are paid 6 to 1
If the sum is 11, winning wagers are paid 6 to 1
If the sum is 12, winning wagers are paid 6 to 1
If the sum is 13, winning wagers are paid 8 to 1
If the sum is 14, winning wagers are paid 12 to 1
If the sum is 15, winning wagers are paid 18 to 1
If the sum is 16, winning wagers are paid 30 to 1
If the sum is 17, winning wagers are paid 50 to 1
While Sic Bo does have some huge payouts, it also has a huge house advantage. As a general rule, you should stick to the small and big bets, because these bets give the casino the lowest edge. You can read more about this in the Sic Bo Strategy article.
